There is no annual plan. A Standard or Premium account can pay for an extra member outside the household, at $7.99 a month with ads or $9.99 without. The last increase took Standard from $17.99 to $19.99: Netflix's own price page still showed the old price on February 17, 2026 and the new one on March 26, 2026. Since January 2022, Standard has gone from $15.49 to $19.99, and the ad plan from $6.99 at launch to $8.99. Prices read on Netflix's own US page on November 1, 2026, before sales tax.

What changes from one plan to the next

Netflix's page describes the difference in a few lines. Standard with ads carries ads and most of the films and series, with a lock on the titles it does not include; it plays on two devices at a time in 1080p and downloads on two. Standard has the same two screens and the same picture without ads or locked titles, and can add one extra member. Premium plays on four devices at once, in 4K with HDR and spatial audio, downloads on six and can add two extra members. Going from the ad plan to Standard costs $11 more a month for the same screens; going from Standard to Premium costs $7 more for the two extra screens and 4K.

Extra members

The page says an account cannot be shared outside the household, meaning the devices at the main home where you watch. Someone who lives elsewhere can be added as an extra member with their own account, for $7.99 a month with ads or $9.99 without, on the owner's bill. Extra members first appear on the page in the copy of May 30, 2023, at $7.99. An extra member without ads costs less than a separate Standard account but more than a separate ad plan.

How Netflix prices have moved

Netflix raised its US prices in four steps over the period covered here. The ad plan arrived in November 2022 at $6.99 as "Basic with ads" and took its current name in 2023. The plain Basic plan, $9.99 without ads, disappeared from the price page between May 30, 2023 and August 26, 2023. Premium alone rose at the end of 2023, between October 4, 2023 and December 19, 2024. Every plan then rose in early 2025, between December 19, 2024 and February 9, 2025, and again in 2026, between February 17, 2026 and March 26, 2026. The table at the bottom of this page links each date to the archived copy of Netflix's page it was read in.

Questions people ask

How much is Netflix a month in 2026?

In the United States, $8.99 for Standard with ads, $19.99 for Standard and $26.99 for Premium, before sales tax, as listed on Netflix's plans and pricing page on November 1, 2026. An extra member outside the household adds $7.99 with ads or $9.99 without.

Does Netflix have an annual plan?

No. The plans and pricing page says plans are billed monthly on the date you signed up, and that Netflix does not offer annual, multi-month or lifetime plans. A year of Standard therefore costs twelve times the monthly price, $239.88, and a year of Standard with ads $107.88.

When did Netflix last raise its prices?

The most recent change on Netflix's US price page happened between February 17, 2026 and March 26, 2026: every plan and both extra member prices went up by one or two dollars. The previous round, in early 2025, had already moved Standard from $15.49 to $17.99.

Is the Netflix ad plan worth it?

It saves $132 a year compared with Standard. The trade-off is ad breaks, a few titles missing, and fewer downloads. For someone who watches a few hours a week, the saving is usually larger than the time lost to ads is annoying; the cost per hour tool on this site helps compare.
